1
Go to Claude, create or sign in to your account, and begin with a clear description of what you are trying to accomplish. You can ask a simple question, paste text you want improved, or explain a larger goal such as researching a market, preparing for an exam or turning notes into a polished document.
2
When the task depends on your own material, upload the relevant documents or images and explain how Claude should use them. Ask it to summarize, compare, extract information, critique an argument or create something based on the files. For work you expect to revisit, create a Project and add the relevant knowledge and instructions so future conversations can begin with more useful context.
3
Turn on web search when the answer depends on recent information. Claude can search current web sources and include citations that you can inspect. For more substantial research on supported paid plans, Research can perform a deeper sequence of searches and produce a more comprehensive synthesis.
4
Do not stop at the first response. Ask Claude to challenge assumptions, simplify an explanation, change tone, provide alternatives or expand the strongest idea. Developers can be more technical and use Claude for code generation, debugging and architecture discussions, while non-technical users can simply describe the desired outcome in everyday language.

The Free plan is suitable for trying the product and occasional use. Upgrade to Pro or Max when your workflow needs higher usage limits, additional models or advanced capabilities such as Research and Claude's professional tools.
