VirusTotal

Open the provider website and create an account or developer project if one is required. Review the current documentation and obtain the credentials needed for your environment.

Start with a small test request to VirusTotal and confirm the response format before wiring it into a larger workflow. Keep secret credentials on the server rather than exposing them in browser or mobile client code.

Add retries, timeout handling, logging, and idempotency where the operation can be repeated. For usage-based services, monitor request volume and provider limits so unexpected traffic does not create avoidable failures or cost.

Once the integration is stable, move credentials into your production secret manager and follow the provider's recommended security and deployment practices.
